Write for us
We welcome thoughtful pitches about comedy craft and form, from a precise reading of a joke's construction to a useful comparison between kinds of performance. Proposals should give readers a clear idea, not just a broad subject.
What makes a strong pitch
Tell us the central question, the specific comic detail or form you want to examine, and what a reader will understand by the end. A focused proposal might explore how a recurring character trait changes a scene, or how a pause shapes an audience's expectation. Avoid pitches that depend on unsupported claims about what everyone finds funny.
A good fit for the voice
We look for clear, lively writing with an eye for structure, timing, performance, and language. Explain specialist terms when they help, distinguish observation from opinion, and use examples only when you can discuss them with appropriate context.
Sending a proposal
Send your pitch through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a proposed title, a short outline, and a brief note about your approach. Please send a proposal rather than a completed article unless one has been requested.
